It is always a fun and exciting time when you get a new puppy. Puppies melt your heart with their cute little antics and their cute faces but as every new puppy owner soon learns there is one challenging aspect that they all must contend with and that is puppy house training.

The most important thing to remember and to take into consideration is that your puppy is still just a baby. He does not yet have the ability to control his potty habits or to know what you are wanting him to do when you tell him to go potty. You will need to have patience and work with him closely for a couple of weeks before he develops the ability to ask you when it is time to go out and to control his bladder and other functions.

A young puppy that is less than 15 weeks of age might need to go outside as frequently as 2-3 times per hour. A puppy that is playing hard will also need to go out more often because playing creates urine. Remember that your puppy is still not able to control himself so any mishaps at this stage are not his fault but rather yours for not taking him out to potty more often.

The important thing to remember when you are potty training your puppy is to be consistent. Make sure and use a leash and take him to the same designated potty place every time. Use consistent commands such as "potty now" and repeat the commands as required. Consistency is what it important when it comes to puppy house training.

If you make the entire experience a positive one|potty training a positive experience for your puppy your puppy house training will be finished sooner. That means that you will need to be patient and loving even when there is a mishap. Just take him outside and praise him when he does it right and ignore it when he does it wrong. Your puppy wants to make you happy so it is important that you do not do anything that will confuse him.

Using a crate will assist you in your puppy house training when have to leave your puppy at home. Dogs naturally try to keep their own space clean so a crate will help your puppy to learn how to control himself. Dogs are also natural den animals so they like having a small space of their own.

The most crucial aspects of puppy house training are to be consistent and positive. Make sure that you take your puppy outside often, especially at first. Always use just one spot for his elimination spot and use consistent commands. Give him lots of praise for a job well done and make sure that the experience is not a frightening one for him.

Puppy house training is the most crucial part of owning a new puppy and you can train your puppy in just a few short weeks if you are consistent and positive about the process. You will then be able to enjoy your puppy more as he gets bigger and you will never have to concern yourself with accidents in the house again.
