You can use a shock collar for dogs without any worry about hurting them. These collars are safe and effective when used correctly to train your dog. The collar can also be used to effectively correct any bad behavior problems. There are different models to choose from, see below for a brief explanation on the how the models are different.

If you purchase a remote control shock collar it will come in two parts, one is the hand held remote that you carry the other is the collar with the receiver on it. You will be able to correct your dog from a distance with a small shock, when they are doing something wrong.

A shock collar for dogs should be purchased by the range with which you want to use it, they come in short range that has a 1/2 mile range, medium range is good for under 1 mile, long range will go for over 1 mile and super long range can be used up to 2 miles. The range is how far the transmitter will reach, even if you can't see your dog.

Some of the behavior problems that can be corrected with a shock collar for dogs are unwanted digging, jumping, chasing cars, chewing. This collar can be used for barking problems but there are collars made for this specific problem.

These collars can be used for basic training commands and is recommended in dog training for dummies, such as sit, stay, come, heel and others. Experts recommend using a shock collar for dogs that has a wide choice of stimulant levels that can be adjusted at the transmitter. If your dog is not responding to the lowest level on the transmitter you can increase the stimulation in small increments until you get the desired response.

The choice for the level of stimulant is as important as the range when it comes to features of any of the shock collar for dogs. No one wants to give a small dog the stimulant that a large dog would receive.

If you are looking at a shock collar for dogs remember to look at the levels of stimulant and the distance that the collar will be able to be away from the transmitter. Trainers agree that shock collars will not hurt your dog if you use it properly, it only release a small static feeling.
