Dog ownership causes a great deal of itchiness, hair loss, and skin irritation in your pet. It is caused by little critters and mites that burrow beneath the skin of your pet, causing discomfort, swelling, and itchiness. There are many different types of mange that can affect your dog and therefore it is important that you go to the vet in order to get this diagnosed properly. Only after a proper diagnosis can you find a proper treatment.

In order to treat mange you should do several things. You should firstly give your dog a bath in order to prevent any secondary infections appearing and to remove any dead or flaky skin from your dog.

It is also important for you to make sure that you are feeding your pet properly. Not only should they be getting the right types of vitamins and minerals in the food that you are feeding them, but also it is important that they are getting the right quantity of food their diet as well. Under eating in particular will lead to a lack of nutrients and vitamins, and so this is important.

It is also a good idea to consider getting some vitamin supplements that contain omega-3 fatty acids as well. This will help to keep your dog's skin looking shiny and healthy, and can help to combat mange.

You may also want to take your dog into the veterinarian so that they can be dipped in a special solution that is intended to get rid of the condition. It may well be that one dip is not enough and that you will need to return for several different sessions depending upon the type of condition that they have.

The vet will also prescribe you with a certain medication, again depending upon the severity of the mange that your dog has. Make sure that you follow the instructions given by the vet and that you apply the fungal cream or any other medication that you are given on a regular basis.

It is also crucial that you clean all about doing that your pet might use or sleep on. This will not only refer to bedding that they have themselves in their own sleeping area, but also any bedding within the house that they may use as well. Wash all of this on the highest setting as this will be the best way of getting rid of any lingering infection.
